Sony Pictures‘ upcoming Flatliners reboot has set a release date. Look for the new film, which is currently filming, to hit the big screen August 18, 2017. It is the first release to claim that weekend.
Set to star Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Kiersey Clemens and Kiefer Sutherland (who also starred in the original), the Flatliners reboot is being helmed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The film boasts a screenplay from Source Code writer Ben Ripley and has David Blackman and Laurence Mark attached to produce.
The original Flatliners, released in 1990, was directed by Joel Schumacher, written by Peter Filardi and produced by Michael Douglas and Rick Bieber, the latter two of whom are also involved in the remake. The film, which also stars Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.
