Namco Bandai will release Soul Calibur for iOS devices on Thursday, January 19th, featuring Retina Display-level graphics, Game Center support and virtual pad controls that the company promises will better mimic traditional console controls. The release of the first Soul Calibur game for iOS precedes the release of Soul Calibur V for PS3 and Xbox consoles on February 2nd. The iOS game will have six modes and 19 playable characters.
As in the trailer video (seen below), players will be able to match swords in various modes, including arcade battle, time attack (beat the enemy quickly in order to immediately proceed to the next level), survival (a multi-player tournament mode), extra survival, museum (showing off the character) and practice, along with top scores reflected on the leaderboards. The game will require iOS 4.3 and be compatible with the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4th generation and iPad 2. Pricing has not yet been announced.
