Sprint has just introduced a protection plan for the portable devices it sells such as netbooks, notebooks and tablets. The Assurant Advanced Protection Pack will repair or replace a customer’s device if it’s damaged, lost or stolen. It costs $13 per month but carries a $100 deductible in the case of lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged devices.
For the monthly fee, the service includes a number of tools to help prevent damage. These include a way to locate a lost or stolen device that might involve a free app, dedicated tech support from a remote login, virus defense, data backup of contacts and media, and three months of credit monitoring if a loss or a theft leaves it at risk.
Customers can get the plan when they activate it on a Sprint data plan or within 30 days of a device activating on the network.
