Sprint executives on Wednesday at the Sprint Developer Conference announced the firm will sale MeeGo mobile devices in the future. The carrier said it would help speed development of services and apps for many devices, including in-vehicle systems. The open-source nature of MeeGo was a key ingredient for Sprint is join the effort.
MeeGo runs on both ARM as well as the Atom chips by, Intel. Sprint’s jumping on board is expected to speed up shipments of MeeGo-powered devices such as tablets and smart phones for use on its 3G and 4G networks. The first phones using MeeGo should ship in 2011.
