Sprint Yesterday afternoon switched on its WiMAX-based 4G network in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Portland.
The long range wireless gives users peak download speeds of more than 10Mbps with real world averages of between 4Mbps to 6Mbps. Subscriptions vary depending on whether the device is static and range from $25 per month for a fixed-in-place connection to $30 for mobile and $50 for both services at once.
Sprint continues reiterated plans for new 4G hardware within the next year, including its first- ever WiMAX phone as well as a WiMAX-only notebook data card and more notebooks with built-in support.
