“Since the start of my life in music I’ve looked for innovative ways to get the music to the fans as easily as possible,” said State Radio singer and guitarist Chad Urmston. “This app will allow us to serve up new stuff to our fans whenever we want and to have an open line of communication with them.”
Urmston has a proven track record as an innovator. He was one of the three members of the band Dispatch, active in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Dispatch drew more than 100,000 people to their farewell show in Boston in 2004 and sold out three nights at Madison Square Garden for a 2007 benefit reunion.
Dalton Sim, State Radio’s manager and part of Nettwerk Music Group, added, “Nettwerk and the band are all about being part of the solution. We see smartphone apps as yet another way to connect with fans and to help move the business into the 21st century.”
The State Radio iPhone app is Melodeo’s second foray into artist apps; the company launched an application for the band The Presidents of the United States of America a month ago.
