T-Mobile UK has revived the idea of unlimited plans in the country with new Full Monty plans that involve a two-year contract. They all provide unlimited data and text messages. Most of the plans aren’t truly unlimited, however, as the entry-level, £36 (about $57) per month option offers 2,000 minutes to non-subscribers.
To get truly unlimited minutes, subscribers need to opt for a £41 monthly (nearly $65) option. The plans work with any cellphone T-Mobile offers, however, and both hotspots as well as tethering are included with the deal. All Full Monty plans go live on February 1. Currently, £41 per month for two years gets users 900 minutes and 500 text messages per month along with unlimited Internet use.
The carrier offered unlimited plans before the widespread popularity of smartphones and subsequent high data and calling traffic. Most UK carriers, such as O2 and Vodafone, still have significant caps and rarely offer more than 1GB of data a month.
