Netflix has announced a May 22nd release date for Michael Showalter’s upcoming romantic comedy The Lovebirds starring Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Issa Rae (Insecure). The streaming giant has also released a new trailer for the film.
The pair play a couple who experiences a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a murder mystery. Their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme to the next, and they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.
Paul Sparks, Anna Camp and Kyle Bornheimer co-star while The Go-Getters scribes Aaron Abrams and Brendan Gall penned the script. Tom Lassally, Oly Obst, Todd Shulman, Jordana Mollick and Martin Gero produce.
