Although the harrowing true life World War I romance Testament of Youth has already opened in the UK, Sony Pictures Classics will be handling the upcoming domestic release and has today released a trailer. Check it out in the player below, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.
Testament of Youth is a story of love, war and remembrance, based on the World War I memoir by famed pacifist Vera Brittain, which has become a testimony of that war from a woman’s point of view. It chronicles Vera’s journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again as her fiance and all her friends leave to fight on the French Front during WWI, prompting her to enlist as a nurse and witness the horrors of war first hand.
The feature debut of television director James Kent (“The White Queen,” “Inside Men”) Testament of Youth stars Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) as Vera and Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”) as her fiance, along with Hayley Atwell (“Agent Carter”), Dominic West (“The Wire”), Emily Watson (Synecdoche, New York), Miranda Richardson (Sleepy Hollow), Colin Morgan (“Merlin”) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service).
Testament of Youth hits theaters June 5.
