ThinkGeek is now shipping the 8-Bitty retro wireless game controller for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. First introduced at the American International Toy Fair in February, the device is now shipping for $30, slightly higher than its previously promised $25 starting point. The device is compatible with both iOS and most Android devices, connecting over Bluetooth.
The 8-Bitty uses an gives mobile gamers 8 physical buttons comprising four face buttons, select, start and two shoulder buttons as well as the D-pad for movement. Like the bigger retro iCade gaming cabinet, the 8-Bitty is compatible with all iCade games as well as Atari Greatest Hits for iPad. In all, over 150 game titles already support the iCade and the iCade 8-Bitty.
ThinkGeek notes that the 8-Bitty is built as an open platform and that game developers do not need any special permission to be able to add support for its controllers using the iCade SDK.
