G-Technology has announced its expansion of products utilizing Thunderbolt with the release of external hard drives G-Drive with Thunderbolt and G-Drive Mobile with Thunderbolt. Designed for consumers and creative professionals, the latest G-Drive storage products offer high speed information transfers, incorporating high-performance 7,200 RPM hard drives. Enclosed in aluminum, the hard drives are formatted for Mac computers by default but can be reformatted for Windows compatibility.
The G-Drive with Thunderbolt is available in 3TB ($300) and 4TB ($400) formats, and features a Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 interfere, delivering a 165 MB/s sustained data transfer rates and an integrated heat-sink, optimal for storage-intensive applications. The G-Drive Mobile with Thunderbolt is suitable for portable usage, and offers transfer rate speeds up to 136 MB/s, also utilizing Thunderbolt or USB 3.0. The G-Drive Mobile with Thunderbolt is Time Machine compatible for quick backups of documents, music, digital video and photos. Available in 1 TB capacity, the G-Drive Mobile is priced at $220. Also announced today is the shipping of G-Technology’s, optimized for professionals requiring support for 2K and 4K digital cinema.
