Eisner Award-Winning comic book writer Tom King will co-write the script for The New Gods film which filmmaker Ava DuVernay is directing for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Comicbook great Jack Kirby created the series which mixed social commentary, mythology and science fiction, the story sees a war between two alien planets – New Genesis and Apokolips – arrive on Earth when the ruler of the dystopian Apokolips, Darkseid, discovers humanity holds the key to the Anti-Life Equation which allows its user to control all living beings in existence.
Darkseid has served as a major galactic villain across the DC universe and Jim Starlin used the character as a template to create Marvel’s villain Thanos.
Tom King recently worked on a celebrated run of Mister Miracle and is currently serving as the writer on the Batman comics.
