One of Ford Motor Co.’s top executives has been pushed out after an internal investigation found behavior that broke Ford’s code of conduct.
Raj Nair, executive vice president and president of North America, was recently accused of “inappropriate behavior” via an anonymous complaint, Ford said. The company followed protocol to “fully investigate” claims of this nature, though the company would not say exactly what Nair was accused of.
“We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration,” CEO Jim Hackett said in a statement. “Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values.”
Hackett blasted harassers in the company late last year after the New York Times reported that women at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant and Chicago Stamping plant complained of years of sexual harassment in the workplace.
“I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused,” Nair said in the company’s statement. “I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future.”
Hackett promoted Nair to the Ford North America job in June 2017. Prior to that he served as head of global product development and chief technical officer.
