Toshiba just revealed it will ship the thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet on March 6, which is one day ahead of the iPad 3 launch. Previously dubbed as the Excite X10, the tablet touts a 7.7mm (0.3-inch) thickness and weigh 535 grams (1.18lbs), while sporting a 10.1-inch, LED-backlit touchscreen with a 1280×800 resolution.
The tablet will only be available with Wi-Fi radios, with the 16GB version starting at $530, while the 32GB model will be $600. The tablet will be powered by a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor and sport a claimed eight hours of battery life. Android 3.2 will be preloaded, though Toshiba promises an update to Android 4.0 in the spring.
There is a microSD memory card slot, HDMI output, and a microUSB connection. The rear camera has 1080p video recording capabilities and can take five-megapixel still photos. Likewise onboard is a Bluetooth radio, GPS sensor, stereo speakers, and a two-megapixel front camera.
Only select Toshiba retailers will get the tablet on March 6.
