Verizon has now released its long-awaited over-the-air software update for the HTC Thunderbolt. Detailed in an online document (PDF), the update so far needs to be downloaded manually and has a number of fixes included. Chief among them is a fix for data problems when accessing Verizon’s 3G network. The patch also stabilizes the performance of data-heavy apps.
GPS updates are promised to be faster when using Google Maps and VZ Navigator with the update. SMS and MMS messages will be stored properly as well. The location information in the Weather Widget was also addressed to display accurate data.
The update doesn’t address the phone’s battery life, which has been short on 4G and with no official option to turn it off.
