Viewsonic plans to go head on into the world of RGB with XG240R display. This 1080p gaming monitor is very much like the old XG240, but sports the addition of “Elite RGB,” – Viewsonic’s marketing term for lighting on the back.
Viewsonic says it adds a “prismatic glow to your existing RGB peripheral setup.” So does a Christmas tree when it is placed right near your gaming rig BTW!
Just like its predecessor, XG240, the XG240R is built around a 24-inch TN panel with a 1920×1080 resolution, a fast 144Hz refresh rate, and low 1ms response time. The monitor also supports AMD’s FreeSync technology.
Viewsonic rates the brightness at 350 nits. While above average, it misses the the rquired 400 nits VESA demands for its entry-level DisplayHDR 400 certification.
There are a pair of HDMI 1.4 ports and a single DisplayPort 1.2 connector. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and a pair of built-in 2W speakers.
Viewsonic has not disclosed when the XG240R will be available or the cost.
