Vizio has quietly updated the product page for its flagship TV of the year, the CinemaWide, to give it a price. The middle tier 58-inch set should cost $3,499. Smaller 50- and high-end 71-inch sets are still coming, but didn’t immediately get prices.
The CinemaWide mix earns its name through the 21:9 aspect ratio, 2560×1080 LCD. It can play true theater-ratio movies without having to crop the image. Its price is relatively inexpensive for the unique size and shape, and comes through Vizio using a 120Hz panel rather than the 240Hz of the 71-inch screen and edge LED lighting rather than a direct backlight.
Internet apps let it tune into Yahoo news and weather widgets as well as Netflix, Vudu, and other features. The extra-wide display has the upside of letting viewers check information without having to overlap the image.
Vizio is still has not disclosed prices and ship dates.
