Western Digital today unveiled the new WD TV — Personal Edition, a Wi-Fi enabled media player that connects to a television and plays virtually any media file stored on USB and network storage devices or any computer on the home network. The new version of the device now supports Miracast streams up to 1080p from a mobile device.
WD TV – Personal Edition allows users to enjoy a wide range of personal media such as photos, video and music on their home entertainment systems by supporting many file formats, including MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, and MOV. Files can be streamed from any connected USB drive, personal cloud and network attached storage drives, digital camcorder or cameras, and any networked Windows or OS X computer in the home. The improved WD TV Remote app improves the navigation experience for WD TV users by turning their compatible mobile devices into a remote control for the media player.
WD TV — personal edition is available now for $100. The WD TV Remote mobile app is currently available for download for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
