Animal Planet is rolling out the tentatively-titled Faroe Islands Project, a spin-off to hit Whale Wars that centers on the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s campaign to stop the annual pilot whale kill known as “The Grind.”
In the new show the Sea Shepherds crew will attempt to stop the hunting of an estimated 1,000 long-finned pilot whales that are corralled and killed in the Danish Protectorate of the islands.
The series began filming in mid-July, and will continue through the end of the Sea Shepherd’s “Operation Ferocious Isles” campaign.
The show doesn’t have an air date yet.
